The state of things

Hi everyone. I'm not sure how to start this. Honestly, I've been putting off writing this for a while now because it's not an easy thing to come forward with. Still, I know there are a few of you out there that still check in, still hold on to hope. You deserve to know what's going on with this comic and why things have been so quiet.

First, this is not a eulogy. We've still got a pulse over here, it's just faint right now. I can blame transitioning from unemployment to a full time job with a long commute for the death of Gran Grimoire as it exists in its current form. The last page I started has been sitting as a work in progress on my computer since June. I'm not proud of the levels of neglect I've shown both the comic and its readers in the past 6 months, so please let me say I'm really, really sorry.

This next bit is the hard part, though. Neka and I have discussed our options and decided to start over. I know one of the easiest traps to fall in to when working on a comic is the desire to redo the old bits when they stop looking as nice, but this is more than that. We're rewriting the scripts. We're replanning the story. In some places, characters are being completely redesigned. Others are being written out. We've both learned so much from the past, wow, 5 years we've been working on this story already. As it is, that's not reflected in Gran Grimoire and I know, personally, that I'm not satisfied with that. So we're starting again. I'm working at a different pace and in a different style. Neka is giving me a story she wants to write, and I'm drawing the kind of things I want to draw.

What this means is that Gran Grimoire isn't going to be around for a while. Knowing my schedule, it will probably be a long while. For now, the pages that are up will remain up but I can't promise they'll always be here. When you see us again, we'll be better. I think you're gonna like it.

Until then, take care of yourselves. We thank you so, so much for everything: the support, the concern, the kicks in the butt, and now for understanding.

Hello everyone. As you might have seen, a new Gran Grimoire page went up this morning! This page took me a ridiculously long amount of time for no reason other than my failing to manage my free time efficiently and productively. I don't want to go months between updates, so I'm going to push myself harder to never let this sort of hiatus happen again. You might also notice that there have been some subtle art changes (mostly in the coloring method I've changed to). Hopefully this will help speed up my page making process.

As usual, thank you everyone for your support and understanding, especially during this hiatus. Everyone who continues to share/link us is doing us a great bit of help. We love you!
